C2H2040: A Vision & Plan to 2040
KEY PROJECTS ENVISIONED OVER THE NEXT 16 YEARS
The section is about Carrigtwohill’s historical significance, highlighting Barryscourt Castle’s restoration, and the need for an interpretive centre to celebrate its heritage, foster community engagement, and drive local development.
This section is about creating in Carrigtwohill, a state of the art Multi-Sports Facility which is open to all local clubs to become their home at an affordable price
Celebrating Carrigtwohill’s diverse heritage with the Carrigtwohill Schools Folklore Project. Bridging generations, preserving traditions, and shaping a vibrant future through the voices of our community.
Our forebears left behind them a rich collection of ancient reminders of their times in the fields and structures within our parish of Carrigtwohill. Many are legally protected.
We would like all in our community to be aware of the Irish language in our local heritage and contemporary life and to feel welcome to become involved.
This element is about promoting and supporting social inclusion and integration in Carrigtwohill so that everyone can participate in our community without relinquishing their own cultural identity.
This section is about ensuring that, as Carrigtwohill grows, it retains its unique sense of community and becomes an exemplar as to how to successfully transform a village into an attractive and vibrant town.
The people of Carrigtwohill, as a community, can play a part in reducing our future impacts on our natural environment and thereby enhance its beauty. We aim to be Irelands greenest town by 2040.
This section is about creating high quality spaces for walking and exercising in the village which people of all ages can use without needing to use a car.
In 2034 we will celebrate 800 years of Carrigtwohill Fair. With Professional Partners, we will create an Annual Fair, a positive experience our town becomes famous for.
Carrigtwohill FRC, a voluntary community-based organisation, addresses diverse social challenges. Limited resources hinder ability to meet rising demands, so we need a new Mental Health and Family Support Hub.
Business development in Carrigtwohill is critical to our success as a community, be it fostering strong relationship with IDA; creating an attractive environment for domestic entrepreneurs to invest; or engaging with existing retailers.
Despite having so many places of interest, like Barryscourt Castle, Fota Wildlife Park, the 13th century Augustine Abbey, ousters farm, magnificent coastline, just to name a few, we have extremely low tourist footprint.
This section outlines how continuous learning “from cradle to grave” can be fostered in a variety of contexts both personal and professional, in a voluntary and self-motivated way.
Carrigtwohill should be a place where older people will want to live and engage in our community, while having the opportunity to age in comfort and security with housing and resources that meet their needs.
